160 bed regional hospital servicing 1,000,000 km2 in Central Australia. Associated with the Northern Territory Clinical School of the Flinders University and the University of Sydney. The population served is 50,000 of whom 38% are Aboriginal, accounting > 70% of inpatient days. High burden of chronic illness: chronic liver disease, diabetes, bronchiectasis, renal failure, rheumatic heart disease, IHD, cardiomyopathy, pneumonia, sepsis.
